THE West Bradford Ladies B Team rounded off their league season with some excellent results in the league in July.

A tight 3½ - 3½ draw at Skipton was followed by a superb 6-1 home win over the same opposition a week later.

West Bradford also beat Lightcliffe 5½ to 1½ in their final game of the season, meaning they won four, and halved one of their six games.

The Evening League team managed a draw at home to a strong Cleckheaton outfit in sweltering conditions in late July, before beating Shipley a few days later.

Their next match is at Shipley tomorrow, before a clash on Thursday at home to Bracken Ghyll.

The White Rose Team played their final match of the season at home to Crow Nest Park on July 29.

Both teams headed out to play on a drizzly and very blustery afternoon and despite a tight contest, West Bradford won 5-0.

At the end of the season, that means the White Rose side have won all their home games and lost all their away games, a pretty good result for their first year in the league.

As for the club competitions, the Centenary Trophy saw Jenny Chapman have the best overall result with a nett 73 to win. There were no birdies recorded in the tough conditions.

A total of eight players came in under par in the Lady Captain’s Day Stableford, with another two hitting par scores.

The winners of both divisions, Judith Bey and Marjorie Sunderland, shot 43 points, with second and third in Division One, Jenny Chapman and Sheila Terry, on 40 points.

Helen Shields and Denise Dack, second and third in Division Two, both had 42 points.

It was a good day for the ladies as nine of them managed to reduce their handicaps between 0.1 and 0.6.

Jayne Saunders also won a prize for being nearest to the pin in two on the 10th, while Angela Hooper won the draw of cards for nearest the line on the 17th.

In the Mrs North’s Foursomes Medal, the winners, Pat Sutcliffe and Trish Beckett, came in with level par of nett 72 with the runners up, Jenny Chapman and Carol Craven, nett 74.

This was a competition where the lowest combined handicaps fared a lot better than the higher handicaps.

There were more good scores in the Monthly Stableford, with five out of the 13 players coming in under par.

Jayne Saunders, the winner in Division One, carded nine pars with 44 points, while second was Pat Sutcliffe with 39 points and four pars.

In Division Two, the winner was Helen Shields with 39 points and in second place was Judith Bey, with 37 points on a countback with Marjorie Sunderland.

The winner of the Pat Weston Trophy, the player with the lowest nett scores on all the par threes, was Marjorie Sunderland with nett 15.

This was a very close competition as the nett scores for Pat Sutcliffe, Sheila Terry and Helen Shields were 16.

Four players reduced their handicaps between 0.2 and 0.6 and Saunders by an excellent 2.2.

Finally, the scores were very close in the Stork Trophy 4BBB Medal, with only four strokes separating the top five places. These nett scores ranged from 64 to 68.

The winners, on a back nine countback, were lady captain, Jackie Mungovin, and Helen Shields, with a nett 64 and nett 28 on the back nine.

Lady vice-captain, Trish Beckett, and Pam Sprint were second, also with nett 64 and nett 30 on the back nine.

It was great to see Sprint back playing again after a long lay-off with an injury.

The ladies section wanted to thank Mick Gration and his team for the fantastic condition the course is in, which, in no small part, has contributed to the improved scores.
