TASIF Khan believes his age is no barrier to more big performances on the world stage, as he insists he is no punchbag for younger opponents.
Khan opened the new premises for his boxing academy on Friday night in BD1, a venture he is extremely proud of.
But the 40-year-old still has unfinished business in the ring, and the former GBU world champion and current WBO African Super Flyweight title holder is eyeing up a return next month.
He told the T&A: “I’m looking for a big fish in the WBO in early June, as these are the best years I’ve had in boxing.
“I won that GBU world title in 2016, and the African Super Flyweight belt last December.
“Being in the top 10 of the WBO rankings gives me an opportunity, and I’m in eighth, so I’m hoping to face one of my idols like Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez.
“Listen, if any of the champions want to take me on, and I get a call tomorrow asking me to take a fight against them in two weeks, I’m available.”
A bullish Khan added: “Age is just a number, and I’m a better boxer than I was at 18.
“I can take those hits off top boxers but I’m no punchbag.
“I believe I’m someone who can still claim titles.”
