KEANAN Brand would be open to a longer stay with the Bulls if he cannot break into Super League regularly.

Brand, snapped up on a two-week loan ahead of the Swinton game, played his part in booking a semi-final slot in the 1895 Cup.

The 25-year-old showed his versatility by switching from centre to full back after Aidan McGowan’s early head injury.

The Leigh utility player has been impressed with the club – and the array of talent in the changing room.

“I was absolutely amazed with the facilities when I turned up and the culture and the boys are just class,” he said. “I felt I slotted in quite well.

“The goal is to get myself into that Leigh side. That’s my aim.

“But if I’m playing at Bradford week in, week out, I’ll be happy to come.

“I enjoyed the week with the boys and I’d rather play every week for Bradford than sit on the sideline. There’s Super League experience and talent in abundance.

“When Chessy (Leigh Leopards head of rugby Chris Chester) rang me to come to Bradford I was buzzing. I think they’re going to do something special.”

Brand slotted in comfortably at the back in McGowan’s absence – having been training regularly in that role for his parent club.

“I did a full pre-season at full back with Leigh. I’ve come here and thought I was going to play centre - then 15 minutes in and I’m at the back.

“But I’m not really bothered. For me personally it’s about playing and blowing the cobwebs off.

“The idea is to get as many minutes under my belt as I can. I’m not going to get better by sitting in the stands.

“It was my first game of the year and I’m happy with how it went. But obviously there’s room for improvement.”

Brand famously spent a week as a contestant in Love Island last year – and revealed the reality TV dating show rekindled his passion for rugby.

“I learned a lot about myself and it probably helped me in my rugby career going forward and knowing what I want.

“It was a good life experience but I probably wouldn’t do it again.

“I needed that time away to give me that drive again. I wasn’t falling out of love with the game but I was thinking if this was for me.

“I went away and actually missed playing, so when I got back to Leigh I was firing again in pre-season.”
