With Bradford Bulls’ Women about to play their first competitive game of 2024, the club have revealed some extensive changes ahead of the new season.
Aside from a raft of new staff, the headline statement is that the running of the women’s team, as of last week, has transferred back under the control of the club, as opposed to the Bradford Bulls Foundation.
Connor Matheson was appointed head coach of the Women’s team prior to the start of the 2024 season, with Kieran Walker remaining as assistant coach, having served that role under Shaun Flynn last year too.
Gail Johnson also joins the women’s set up as Matheson’s second assistant coach.
Meanwhile, Natalie Moorhouse and Rebecca Ball-Knight have both been appointed as joint heads of women’s and girls rugby at Bulls.
The Bulls Women got their year off to a winning start with a 28-22 come from behind victory over Stanningley at the start of the month, before losing 22-8 to Oulton Raidettes at Odsal last Sunday.
Their first competitive game of 2024 takes place this Saturday, when they host Warrington Wolves at Odsal in their Challenge Cup Group Three opener.
The squad has also had a major refresh ahead of the new term in the North Regional Division, effectively the Championship, with the likes of Ellen Strafford, Katie Whelan and Millen Downs among just a handful of players remaining at the club from last year.
