A SCHOOL and Bradford academy trust have been shortlisted for prestigious national awards.

Carlton Mills Primary School, in Scotchman Road, and the group it is part of - Carlton Academy Trust - have both been nominated in separate categories in the Tes Schools Awards 2024.

Bradford Citizens, a people-powered alliance made up of a number of trusts, has also been shortlisted for one of the awards, in The Tim Brighouse Community Engagement Initiative of the Year section.

Meanwhile, Carlton Mills Primary could win the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Setting of the Year award, while the school's academy chain is up for the Trust Team of the Year - 9 schools or less award.

The Tes Awards celebrate the best state and independent early years settings, primary schools, and secondary schools across the country.

A panel of industry experts, who are highly respected in their fields, will judge each of the 21 categories and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London on Friday, June 21.

The winner of a special Lifetime Achievement Award will also be revealed on the night.

Carlton Academy Trust - which also runs Carlton Bolling, Carlton Keighley, Thorpe Primary School, Marshfield Primary School, High Park School, Beechcliffe School, and Oulton Academy - shared its excitement on X.

The post said: "Exciting News! We are thrilled to announce that we've been shortlisted for not one, but TWO Tes Schools Awards 2024."

It added: "Huge thanks to our dedicated team for all their hard work and commitment! Keep your eyes peeled for news of our second exciting nomination!"

The trust also applauded the team at Carlton Mills Primary for their "dedication and commitment to early years education".

Bradford Citizens, was founded in 2021 after a successful Schools Pandemic Recovery Summit where young people shared their experiences of the pandemic and discuss how they wanted to rebuild Bradford.

The group said on X: "We are absolutely thrilled to share the fantastic news that we have been shortlisted for the prestigious Tes Schools Awards 2024!"

The post added: "A huge big up, well done to our leaders of all ages!"
